A cricket match between politicians and professional cricketers has raised thousands for the Grenfell Tower fire victims.

The Lashings All-Stars played the House of Commons and Lords Cricket Club on Tuesday (June 27) and despite the torrential rain, both sides were determined to showcase their talents to raise funds for the victims in North Kensington .

The event included commentary from broadcaster Max Rushden and Henry Blofeld at Upper Latymer School Sports Ground, in Wood Lane.

Described as the "Harlem Globetrotters of cricket", the Lashings beat the politicians with a side consisting of Monty Panesar, Saqlain Mushtaq, Yasir Arafat and Tino Best.

The politicians will get a chance for revenge when they face each other again in August when they meet in Broxbourne.

The House of Commons and Lords Cricket Club has been around for more than 150 years and has featured the likes of Mayor of London Sadiq Khan and Boris Johnson in their squads.

All money raised went towards the Even Standard Dispossessed Fund.
