A coach filled with tourists stopped near Grenfell Tower to allow its passengers to photograph its charred remains, it is reported.

The “unauthorised visit” with tourists from China to the 24-storey building, in which up to 80 people died in June, was carried out on Wednesday (September 27) in a vehicle owned by BM Coaches.

The coach company has now confirmed the tour company concerned has sent their guide back to China and they will take “the strongest possible action” against the driver.

In a report by the Times , it is suggested that the coach driver has been suspended after the unscheduled stop on the tour.

James Buckingham, operations director at BM Coaches, said that the incident outside the west London tower block is “completely against” its philosophy.

A statement sent to getwestlondon said: “I would like to apologise most sincerely on behalf of BM Coaches & Rental Limited for the insensitive actions of the group we were contracted to supply transportation to.

“I have checked thoroughly through the itinerary provided by the tour company and this was an unauthorised visit.

“As such, the company will take the strongest possible action against the driver concerned.

“Such behaviour is completely against the philosophy with which we run our business, the tour company concerned has apologised unreservedly for the actions of their guide," he added.

“He is returning to China this evening."

BM Coaches has confirmed it will be making a donation to the official Grenfell Fund following the incident in west London.
