More than half the money raised for charity following the Grenfell Tower fire has been distributed.

The Charity Commission for England and Wales revealed last Thursday (September 28) that £16,425,255 of the total £20,589,794 raised (80%) had been handed over to organisations, which had distributed £11,977,255 (58%) .

In total a further £1 million was distributed in the previous week.

The Game4Grenfell raised £235,000, the latest government figures show, while Family Action, which was given £40,000 by getwestlondon readers had handed over all of the £318,006 it has raised.

The figures mean more than £4m raised following the fire at the 24-storey building, where around 80 people died, is yet to be handed over to distributing organisations.

It also means more than £8.5m is yet to handed out.
