A fundraising quiz night is being staged to help those affected by the Grenfell Tower fire , thanks to a helping hand from local celebrities.

The event taking place at the Nubian Life resource centre in Shepherd’s Bush on July 21 will feature questions put forward by the likes of TV chef Lorraine Pascal and movie sound man Orin Beaton, who has worked on James Bond, Harry Potter and Star Wars films.

Money raised will go towards groups directly working with families from Grenfell.

“The quiz night is a heartfelt response to the tragedy of the Grenfell Tower fire,” explained Jazz Browne of Nubian Life, which provides community support to west London’s African-Caribbean seniors.

“We wanted to do something that would bring people together to raise funds that will be used to make direct impact on the lives of survivors of the fire, particularly older residents and children.

“We have had support from well-known members of the community, including Chris Peckings, Mr Numbervator, Solo Banton, Sharon Tomlin, Christopher Tajah, and Orin Beaton and TV chef Lorraine Pascal.

“All have given us questions from their fields of expertise.”

Organised by Nubian Life, together with the Westway Housing Association, the target is to raise £1,000 to assist local community groups who are working directly with families from Grenfell Tower.

Teams of five can take part but time is running out for those interested to register.

It takes place at the community centre at 50 Ellerslie Road, near QPR's Loftus Road ground , with doors opening at 6.30pm, and the first question being posed at 8pm.

Tickets are £20 per person, and include food. There will also be a donations bar.

To register fill out this form at and email it to info@nubianlife.org.uk before Wednesday (July 12).

It is one of many Grenfell fundraisers taking place around the country, including one which will see firefighters run 200 miles from Exeter to North Kensington Fire Station in Ladbroke Grove.
