A man from Greenford will face four months behind bars for his role in a mass operation to avoid motoring offences, police have said.

Mohammed Babar, of Twickenham Gardens, was, on Wednesday (October 14), sentenced to four months in prison and was disqualified from driving for six months, according to the Met .

His sentencing, at Southwark Crown Court, concludes Operation Theemin, by Redbridge Borough CID, which investigated an alleged crime whereby a court clerk was receiving payment to ensure prosecutions for motoring offences were not recorded.

The clerk, who was employed as an administrative clerk at Redbridge Magistrates' Court, was sentenced to six years imprisonment at Southwark Crown Court in 2011.

A total of 46 people were arrested during the operation, with 30 people charged and 22 convicted in court, police added.

Babar was sentenced having previously pleaded guilty to perverting the course of justice, in June.

Detective Superintendent Stewart Hill, who led Operation Theemin, said: "This has been a long, protracted and complex investigation.

"These final sentences reflect the professionalism and dedication of Redbridge Borough detectives who have achieved significant convictions over the course of the investigation."
