Firefighters from Heston and Northolt were called out to Little Britain Lake to rescue a golden retriever after he got caught in weeds and fishing line.

The crews used an inflatable boat to pull 10-year-old Goldie to safety after his eventful swim in the Uxbridge Lake on Saturday (August 26).

One fire engine and 10 firefighters responded to the call at 1.11pm and managed to retrieve Goldie by 1.57pm.

Watch Manager Barry Carolan, from Northolt Fire Station, was at the scene and said: “Crews did an excellent job. We inflated the boat and sent it out as quickly as possible to rescue him as I don’t think he had much left.

"He was more than happy though when we got him out and was taken to the vet to be checked out.”
