The first ever Ofsted report for a school in Hounslow received an all-round "outstanding" performance.

The glowing report saw pupils and teachers at the Nishkam School West London jump for joy after being judged top in all five areas.

The all-through mixed free school's temporary site on London Road, Isleworth , for pupils aged four to 19, opened to reception and Year 1 pupils in September 2013.

The Ofsted inspection report stated: "Pupils achieve extremely well because the quality of teaching over time is outstanding."

The multi-faith school will see a new intake of pupils in nursery, Year 7 and Year 12 in September 2018, building each year to 1,400 pupils by 2020.

Headteacher Funmi Alder said: “We’re absolutely thrilled because Ofsted have recognised that our hard work is inspiring children to excel academically and spiritually.

"We are indebted to all our staff, past and present, in all of their dedication since the school has opened in 2013.

"I would also like to say a big thank you of course, to our wonderful pupils and parents for working towards this goal together.”

The Ofsted report was 'outstanding'

The school which is built on a Sikh ethos was noted by Ofsted to have "exemplary leadership and management skills" and with "pupils motivated" with "high aspirations".

The report went on to read "pupils achieve outcomes that are significantly above average in the national tests."

Looking to future improvements the inspection states "as the school expands each academic year, leaders focus on maintaining and sustaining the high standards."

Its safeguarding practices were said to be "effective" while inspectors noticed failure was not an option as pupils do not give up and lessons are on time.

Pupils were said to be "confident, communicative and motivated" while naughty behaviour such as name calling and hitting are tackled tenaciously.

Early years children's behaviour was outstanding as "they play and work well together, learn to take turns and listen well."

Terry Green, chair of directors at Nishkam School Trust, said: “This result is an important staging post for the school as it now becomes the third Nishkam School to be graded by Ofsted as ‘Outstanding’.

"It will form a wonderful platform for the school community as we prepare to move into our permanent new building on Syon Lane ready for September 2018.

"As planned, the number of available places will be significantly increased to meet the expected high demand for places as we enrol students at the beginning of the secondary element of our all-through school."
