New speed cameras to go live

New digital cameras installed on the A316

A new piece of camera technology which carries out average speed checks has been installed as part of a trial by Transport for London (Tfl) on the A316.

From Monday (June 13), the 9.5mile stretch of road will capture motorists speeds at regular intervals and record the time and date of each vehicle, using number plate recognition technology, to see whether the car has been driving over the speed limit or not.

TfL has high hopes the new digital speed cameras, which have replaced the old chunky yellow ones, will help reduce the number of accidents on our roads.

The A316 runs through several boroughs including Hounslow , Richmond and Spelthorne.

Residents said the increase in incidents in the area is “getting worrying” as the violence came just days after several cars burst into flames a few streets away on St Helen’s Close.

Antonio Conte glimpse into plans for Chelsea

Head coach Antonio Conte reacts

New Chelsea FC boss has told fans his games will not include counter-attack in the training agenda or on the field.

Antonio Conte is set to take over the west London club at Stamford Bridge next season following Euro 2016 when he will step down as the manager of Italy.

He has revealed some of his plans into moulding the team into shape to take back the Premier League title from Leicester City.

He says: “When we have the ball, we have our ideas. When we lose the ball, we try to be tight, press the opposition and try to win it back as soon as possible.

“Counter-attacks are when you sit back and then propel yourself forward at pace.”

Brentford heading four-way fight for player

Southend's Daniel Bentley celebrates winning the penalty shootout and the match

Brentford FC are in a battle with three other teams to net talented keeper Daniel Bentley.

The four-way-fight for the 22-year-old Southend United goalie is with Bournemouth, Glasgow Rangers and Burnley.

But the Bees have five reasons to be buzzing for Bentley who wants to go somewhere he won’t be sat on the subs bench which means he’s unlikely to pick Burnley who already have Tom Heaton.

There’s the distance factor when considering rivals Burnley and Glasgow Rangers and the question with Bournemouth is don’t they already have two goalkeepers, which leaves the David Button question.

Police had to seal off the area after around 500 bees settled on a cycle chained to the railings on the corner of Fulham Palace Road and Fulham Road, on Monday (June 6).

The moment was captured by Claire Shirley who lives nearby and was told by officers the area had to be cordoned off as people were walking past without realising the danger, raising concerns someone could get stung and go into anaphylactic shock.

A beekeeper called to the scene to remove the insects.
