“The results are truly excellent, especially as 40% of our students did not go to primary school in the UK and a vast majority do not have English as their first language."

Pupil at the school Sharika Sundar achieved 10 A*s and one A while Gadier Kadhim got nine A*s and three As.

While The Ellen Wilkinson School For Girls in Acton also has plenty to cheer about after a third of all GCSE grades this year were A* and As.

One in seven students at the school also achieve eight or more A* and A grades.

Headteacher Rachel Kruger said: “At our core we have exceptional teaching and a solid, broad curriculum, and that has meant that our staff and students have not swayed with the winds as performance measures have changed over the years.

“Our girls worked incredibly hard and have been support by truly fantastic teachers, governors and parents.”
