A Hayes academy has reassured GCSE students who may not achieve the results they expect on Thursday August 24.

Global Academy helps 14 to 19 year old students learn the technical skills for a career in the broadcast and digital media industries, alongside studying for their GCSEs and A Levels.

It was officially opened this year by royals the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry .

The school's principal has set out a four point list to help students who may be distressed after getting their results.

Simon Collins said: "With GCSE results day around the corner, I want to reassure anyone who doesn't get the results they’re expecting or anyone who’s having second thoughts about their sixth form choices that all is not lost."

Firstly Mr Collins has advised pupils not to panic.

He said: "Take time to think about your options.

"Time and time again I’ve met students who are so focused on their chosen pathway that they’re not aware of the multitude of roles out there."

The Royals visited Global Academy earlier this year

Planning is the principal's second recommendation, stating: "Once you’ve thought about your next step, you should create a tangible plan of how to get there.

"You can still apply for a place at that school, college or sixth form college as a last minute place might now be available.

"Just don’t delay. Decide what you want and go get it."

After planning, Mr Collins, suggested students talk about their decision.

He said: "Talking through your next steps will help.

"We want to make sure we help as many students as possible achieve their future goals."

Last of all he advises students to be open to change.

He said: "Above all, don’t worry if it doesn’t work out quite how you’d planned.

"Change can often lead you on a different path to greater things.

"We wish you the best of luck for your exam results and hope that you achieve everything you wish for."
