A world record attempt has been launched to stage the biggest game of ultimate frisbee in a Hounslow park.

Organisers are seeking 100 volunteers to play the sport at Lampton Park, in Lampton Road, Hounslow.

They hope to flick aside the current mark for the most players in a game, which they said stands at 87.

The record attempt was originally scheduled to take place on Saturday, August 20, but has been postponed, with a new date yet to be arranged.

Volunteers don't need any previous experience of the sport, which is similar to American football, with a spinning disc in place of the ball.

But participants must be aged 14 or over and must sign up in advance so they can be sent a guide to the event, including a copy of the rules.

Free sports sessions on offer throughout summer

The world record attempt is being organised to promote Motivate Hounslow, a sports project jointly run by Sport Impact and Brentford FC Community Sports Trust (CST).

They are running a myriad of free sports sessions across the borough this summer, with activities ranging from boxing and basketball to fitness boot camps.

Romeo Kabanda, of Brentford FC CST, said: "Ultimate frisbee is a sport that literally anyone can play so we thought it was perfect for a world record attempt.

"We're trying to get as many people active throughout the summer as we can, and hopefully this record attempt will show how much fun sport can be."
