Firefighters rescued and revived four kittens trapped in a flat fire in Willesden on Thursday morning (October 8).

The crews revived the kittens using a small oxygen mask after rescuing them from a basket in the property's kitchen. A man also escaped the fire, on the first floor of a residential block of flats, in on Butler Road, Willesden .

London Fire Brigade were called to the property at 8.51am, with four fire engines and 21 firefighters attending.

A man escaped the fire, leaving the property before the brigade arrived.

According to an LFB spokesman: “Officers from North Kensington , Willesden and Park Royal fire stations attended the incident.

“The fire affected a five-room flat on the first floor of the block and part of the property was damaged by the blaze.”

The fire was brought under control by 9.50am with the cause of the fire currently unknown and under investigation.

Station manager John Ryan, who was at the scene, said: "Crews worked hard in really quite arduous conditions. They gained entrance to the property through the balcony and quickly dealt with what was a very, very hot fire that had built up.”
