Four people were taken to hospital when a car overturned and hit a kerb at Swakeleys roundabout in Hillingdon .

Tailbacks and queuing traffic were seen for hours, eastbound on the A40 Western Avenue, after the collision on Bank Holiday Monday (May 30) afternoon.

The Metropolitan Police and London Fire Brigade attended the scene at 2.53pm, where a car had collided with the kerb of the road in the Ickenham area.

A spokeswoman for the Metropolitan Police said: "There was a collision involving a car and the curb of the road. The car overturned."

London Ambulance Service (LAS) confirmed they were called three minutes later.

An LAS spokesperson said: “We were called at 2.56pm, on May 30, to reports of a road traffic collision involving an overturned vehicle on Swakeley's Roundabout, A40.

“We sent ambulance crews and an incident response officer. The first of our medics arrived at the scene within two minutes.

“We treated four patients at the scene for various injuries, including to the head and neck, and took them to hospital”.

Transport for London Traffic News warned drivers to expect long delays for anyone travelling in the area.
