Four people escaped a flat fire in a converted terraced house in Wembley.

The occupant of the flat was out when the blaze began and an alarm was raised by other residents of the house on Elm Road on Friday (June 19) afternoon.

Fire crews believe the fire was caused by a faulty toaster, but the incident is still under investigation.

The London Fire Brigade (LFB) said they were called at 1.24pm and the fire was under control by 2.12pm.

Three fire engines and 14 firefighters and officers from Wembley and Northolt attended.

LFB said four people left the building before the fire services arrived at the scene and luckily no one was injured.
