The collision between a police van and a car sparked huge traffic queues.

Metropolitan Police said one of its vans was involved in a collision with a car at around 7am in the A40 Hanger Lane Gyratory.

One police officer received treatment for minor injuries.

Footage from motorcyclist Dominic Brinkworth shows the van being towed away as officers lead traffic.

Motorists were affected by huge queues on Hanger Lane today

Mr Brinkworth said the footage was recorded this morning, but added a fault with his camera due to age meant the video displays the year "2013".

It is not yet clear if the police van was responding to a call at the time of the crash.

The collision sparked traffic queues stretching eight miles from Uxbridge to Hanger Lane in the A40, as well as traffic to and from the Chiswick Roundabout.

According to Transport for London (TfL), the collision had cleared shortly before 12pm.

At around 1pm, traffic had eased between Northolt and Hanger Lane, but remained between Hanger Lane and Gypsy Corner up until around 3pm.
