The culprits behind persistent fly-tipping in an Ealing alleyway are being sought by the council.

Shopkeeper Graham Weston has complained about piles of rubbish being left uncollected for weeks in the alley which leads to flats in Leeland Road.

Mr Weston, who owns Goldmine Jewellers, in the Broadway, near the pathway, said rubbish had been piling up there for at least a month but the council did not seem interested when he reported the issue.

"It looks awful and it smells but nothing's being done about it, even though I've reported it on numerous occasions," he said.

He claimed it was residential waste which should be collected by the council, but Ealing Council told getwestlondon the eyesore was the result of fly-tipping.

A council spokeswoman said: "There's a real problem with fly-tipping in this private alleyway and the landowner is responsible for clearing the site.

"We have repeatedly removed rubbish left in the privately owned space and are monitoring the area to find those responsible."
