A lifeboat crew prevented a Mercedes from floating away after rainfall caused the river to become swollení
A Mercedes Benz has been stopped from floating into the Thames by Chiswick Lifeboat this afternoon after severe flooding at Putney Bridge.
At 2:30pm today a Chiswick lifeboat went on patrol as recent heavy rain fall, low pressure and a spring tide have caused the Thames to become very swollen.
A spokeswoman from the RNLI said: "As they got to Putney Bridge the crew of the lifeboat noticed a silver Mercedes surrounded by water. As it became apparent that the car was going to float into the Thames and possibly obstruct shipping they tied a rope around the tyres to prevent it from floating away."
