The owners of a boat on the Grand Union Canal have been left with a sinking feeling after it was destroyed in a fire.

Flames tore through the vessel, which was moored close to Acton lane in Harlesden on Monday (May 1) evening.

An investigation into the cause of the fire is now underway.

London Fire Brigade (LFB) was called at 8.06pm to the canal, with three engines from Park Royal, Willesden and North Kensington attending, and a fire rescue unit from Wembley.

Station manager Lee Walker, who was at the scene, said: “On arrival crews faced a boat which was well alight, they worked quickly to extinguish the fire.”

Firefighters had the blaze under control at 8.47pm.
