The Metropolitan Police and four other forces are involved in the search for missing Hanwell teenager Alice Gross, and 500 people have been spoken to locally.

Today marks two weeks since the 14-year-old disappeared after talking a walk along the Grand Union Canal. Some 32 detectives are involved in the search with support from a further 170 officers and staff.

Underwater and Confined Space Search Teams and Specialist Dog Units have been searching the vicinity of the canal at Hanwell, and Surrey Police and Sussex Police both provided specialist resources as part of this operation.

Detective Chief Inspector Andy Chalmers, speaking to the media today, denied speculation that Alice, who had battled anorexia, left home on August 28 following a family disagreement.

He said: "There has been speculation that a family disagreement sparked Alice's disappearance. It didn't. Alice went out that day just like usual. Her family are distraught. Their daughter has now not been seen or heard from for 14 days. Please help us find Alice and bring her home to them."

Officers have revealed that Alice's iPhone was missing from her purple rucksack when it was found on the towpath. They want to trace the phone and to hear from anyone who saw Alice on August 28 between 1:02pm, when she was in Church Path, and 4:26pm when she was walking along Trumpers Way, towards Hanwell. So far no CCTV has been traced that shows Alice after this time.

Police say from the text sent to her dad at 3pm she had "every indication" that she was planning to come home later. She did not have a boyfriend, police said.
