A gym with a difference is coming to Hounslow , enabling members do good deeds while keeping fit.

GoodGyms set their runners missions to complete, from clearing land for a community garden to changing light bulbs or providing company for isolated older people.

By running to and from the various tasks, either solo or as part of a group, members get to feel the burn while experiencing a warm glow inside.

GoodGym founder Ivo Gormley said: "GoodGym is the most fun and exciting way to keep fit. You meet new people, explore where you live and help other people at the same time.

"It's a great feeling. It's going to be great having everyone from Brentford to Feltham involved.

"If you love running then this is an great way to give yourself a bit of extra motivation. If you're new to running this is one of the most fun and supportive communities you can be involved in. A perfect way to start. We're very much looking forward to meeting you.

"Oh and the other good thing is that it's free. You can make a donation if you want but you don't have to. It's really easy to get involved."

More runners needed to make Hounslow GoodGym a reality

There are already 12 GoodGyms established across London, and efforts are afoot to set up a 13th in Hounslow.

The first step is to get 100 runners signed up, and with 73 already on board the finishing line for that goal is in sight.

After that, the group needs to raise £25,000 of start-up funding from the council or local businesses before recruiting a trainer and hitting the streets.

GoodGym is a registered charity and local branches are free to join, with group runs of lengths to suit all abilities.
