Five firefighters received minor injuries on Thursday (September 14) after their fire engine collided with a car and a lamp post.

At around 11.45am, London Ambulance Service (LAS) was called to the scene of the collision in Uxbridge Road, in Ealing .

The fire engine, which was on its way to an incident when the collision took place, suffered significant damage after hitting the post.

Occupants of the car involved in the collision did not suffer any injuries, according to LAS.

The five firefighters who received minor injuries reportedly took themselves to hospital.

After the incident, motorists were urged to avoid the area if possible while clean up and recovery crews attended the scene.

Traffic was heavy in the area until around 3pm while a Metropolitan Police cordon was in place.

A police spokesman for Ealing MPS said: "There has been an accident involving a fire engine in Uxbridge Road."

Ealing Council added: "People should avoid the area where possible.

"Clean up and recovery crews are on site. Delays expected to last until approximately 3pm."

London Fire Brigade said an investigation into the incident is now being conducted.

An unmarked police car overturned on Kensington Road

The incident came just a day after an unmarked police car overturned while pursuing a suspected stolen vehicle.

The car hit a lamp post in Kensington Road, Northolt, during the pursuit. Two police officers were taken to hospital with shoulder injuries but both have since been discharged.
