Firefighters rescued a couple from a suspected chip pan blaze in Feltham.

Crews wearing breathing apparatus led a man and a woman to safety from the first floor of a house in Trevithick Close, Feltham, on Monday (March 14) evening.

They were both treated for smoke inhalation by paramedics from London Ambulance Service.

The fire is believed by the London Fire Brigade (LFB) to have been caused by a chip pan left unattended on the hob in the first-floor kitchen

An LFB spokesperson said: "You should never leave cooking unattended – if you have to leave the room or the house, turn the heat off."

The brigade was called at 6.19pm. It sent engines from Feltham and Twickenham fire stations, with 10 firefighters, and the fire was under control by 7pm.

The kitchen suffered partial fire damage and the entire ground floor was left blackened by smoke.
