Firefighters have cleared an area in Northolt - the size of two football pitches - which was flooded when a water main burst.

A burst water main flooded an expanse of open land the size of two football pitches in Aspen Lane at around 7.15am on Thursday morning (February 12).

The water, which was between 10cm and 15cm deep in places, flooded a large area but firefighters were able to clear all the water by 11.30am.

A spokesman from Northolt fire station said: "We were there until about 11.30am when the incident was over and the water levels all went down.

"No houses were affected."

An Affinity Water spokesman said: “We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused by a burst on an 18in main on Aspen Lane, Northolt.

"Affinity Water technicians are currently on site and working to repair the main as soon as possible.

"We would like to thank our customers for their patience whilst we carry out these vital repairs."

Despite initially releasing a statement, a Thames Water spokesman confirmed the company did not deal with the incident.
