Firefighters were called to Paddington to put out a fire in a hairdressers.

The emergency crew went to Praed Street, home of St Mary's Hospital, on Wednesday (March 30) to tackle the flames, which damaged the ground and lower ground floors of the property.

Nearby businesses have said the salon involved was Unique Style, next to Rose Cafe. One witness said he saw fire engines on the road at around midday.

No one was hurt in the incident.

It resulted in the road being temporarily closed and buses diverted. Two engines from Paddington attended at 11.30am and had the fire under control by 12.15pm.

The road was reopened at around 12.30pm, with traffic returning to normal.
