Firefighters were called to deal with an "unknown substance" at a bus stop in Hounslow on Monday morning after a teenager injured their hand.

A London Fire Brigade spokeswoman said firefighters were called to the stop in Hanworth Road, by the junction with St Stephen's Road, at 2.16am.

She said the crew conducted a sweep of the bus stop but found no hazardous substance. She said they had washed the area down as a precaution.

The London Ambulance Service was called to reports of a teenager with a minor hand injury but no ambulance was sent as the victim was able to make their own way to hospital. The cause of the injury is unclear at this stage.
