Firefighters have tackled a fire on a boat in Fulham this afternoon.

They were called to Imperial Marina Wharf at 11.15am today (February 5) to reports of the leisure boat alight, and have now put out the blaze.

London Fire Brigade (LFB) say six fire engines and 35 firefighters from Fulham, Chelsea, Clapham, Kensington, Hammersmith and Sutton stations were at the scene.

Station Manager Andy Walton said: "The fire boat was instrumental in our ability to fight this fire due to the location of the leisure boat. Having it meant we were able to pump water directly from the Thames and bring it under control quickly.

"The Brigade was called at 11.15am and the fire was under control by 1.50pm. The cause of the fire is under investigation."

Around a quarter of the boat was on fire, and half of the main deck of the boat was damaged by fire. No one was injured but sadly two cats died on board.

LFB say it is too early to say what caused the blaze.
