Firefighters are dealing with a basement fire in a six storey office block in Piccadilly.

They were called to Albemarle Street shortly after 2pm after smoke was seen coming from an electrical sub station in the basement.

Four engines are at the scene, with fire crew working with UK Power network to get the electrics isolated.

London Fire Brigade spokesperson warned motorists to avoid the area: “There is a lot of traffic in Albemarle Street and surrounding roads and we’d ask people to please avoid the area if possible.”

The cause of the fire is currently not known.

Firefighters also responded to this emergency on Sunday (May 15) where a double decker bus crashed into a Harlesden shop
