A school has paid tribute to one of its students following his death after a fall from a tower block in Feltham .

Owain Campbell fell from the 10th floor of Hunter House and sadly died at the scene on Thursday (May 4) afternoon.

The 15-year-old boy was a student at Springwest Academy, formerly known as Feltham Community College.

In a heartfelt tribute to the Year 11 student, Mariella Wilson, headteacher of the school in Browell's Lane, and Victoria Eadie, chief executive of the Tudor Park Education Trust, spoke about the tragic news.

"Owain was a lovely young man who came to us in Y8 and had made incredible progress both academically and socially," they said in a statement.

"He had a very happy Year 11 and we were all very proud of him.

"The whole school community has reacted with great dignity today, showing respect for Owain and his family.

"It has been a very sad day for all our students, Owain’s friends and teachers. Our thoughts and prayers remain with them at this very difficult time."

A statement on the school's website said the school was "greatly saddened by Owain’s death", adding he was "a much liked and respected member of our Springwest community and he will be missed by staff and students alike."

Emergency services were called to Hawthorn Road just after 3.30pm on Thursday (May 4).

Police said a male was believed to have fallen from the 10th floor of Hunter House and the teenager was pronounced dead at the scene.

His next of kin have been informed.

His death is currently being treated as unexplained, but not suspicious.
