Families were evacuated from their homes following a gas leak in Feltham on Wednesday (November 9).

Around 30 people were forced to leave their homes and belongings behind after reports of a strong smell of gas was being investigated on Uxbridge Road in Feltham.

The London Fire Brigade (LFB), police and gas company attended the scene.

A spokesman for LFB said: "We were called at 4.08pm to reports of a strong smell of gas on Uxbridge Road, Feltham.

"Not long after we arrived the gas was isolated.

"Around 30 people were evacuated from the surrounding properties.

"Once the gas was isolated and dealt with there was nothing for us to do."

The Brigade were at the scene for around 30 minutes.

A police cordon was put in place.

Road closures were reported in the surrounding areas while the incident was dealt with.

Families were able to return home yesterday once it was deemed safe to do so.

A spokesman for National Grid said: “We were called to a property in Uxbridge Road, Feltham on Wednesday November 9, by the emergency services.

"We made safe by isolating the gas supply to the property.

"Suspected gas escapes should be reported on 0800 111 999.”
