The European Union debate has taken a bizarre turn after Boris Johnson opted to gather carnal knowledge of the British fish market.

There were plenty of fish for the Uxbridge and South Ruislip MP who was visiting Billingsgate Fish Market in east London, where he was joined by Joey Essex's uncle Greg.

With one day left until polls open for Britain to decide on its membership of the EU Boris was hoping to catch a big one on the last day of his campaign tour of the country.

The former Mayor of London and prominent Leave campaigner has previously clashed with Prime Minister David Cameron over the EU's fishing regulations.

Boris has argued leaving the union would allow Britain to set its own fishing quotas, rather than allowing Brussels to set the limits.

But whether Boris' 'fish are friends not food' antics will pay off when polls open at 7am on Thursday (June 23) is yet to be seen.
