Police have published this image of an enormous knife taken off the streets of Hammersmith .

Images of the deadly weapon was released by police on Twitter on Thursday (September 21) evening.

The huge curved blade, which comes in a cover, is pictured with a Nike rucksack.

Another images shows the weapon being carried by a police officer wearing blue protective rubber gloves.

Earlier this week a haul of dangerous weapons dropped in the knife bin outside Hounslow Police station were revealed .

The weapons placed in the knife bin during the amnesty range from kitchen knives to what appears to be a larger, cleaver knife.

In August, police in Shepherd’s Bush uncovered a terrifying array of weapons during a drugs bust which included a bow and arrow, nunchucks, a Spider-man mask and a range of knives.

The images of the knife recovered in Hammersmith were posted on the Hammersmith and Fulham Police Twitter account.

The message with the images read: “Another knife off the streets of #Hammersmith #FHTeamB”
