A 90-year-old woman who fell outside her home in Hayes is looking to find the Good Samaritan who comforted and stayed with her until paramedics arrived.

Kathleen Langley was returning to her home when she fell and landed heavily on her face.

The pensioner, who was married to three-time Hillingdon mayor Cllr Alf Langley, went into shock and started shivering but was helped by a stranger who saw her tumble.

The mystery man, who was posting leaflets through letterboxes nearby at the time, gave Mrs Langley his coat to stay warm and called emergency services.

He continued to comfort the fallen pensioner by promising to wait with her until the ambulance had arrived.

The incident, which happened on January 20 at around 10.30am, left Mrs Langley bleeding heavily from her mouth and nose, and with a badly bruised face.

Thank you

She is now recovering and wants to thank the stranger who came to her aid.

Speaking to getwestlondon, she said: “I had just been to the doctors and was returning home. I got as far as my gate and the next moment I’m on the floor – I don’t know what happened.

“I was shivering and this young man was way past my house and ran back, he was really kind. He put his coat around me to keep warm and called ambulance.

“He told them I was bleeding heavily and said he would wait for me until the ambulance arrived.”

He proceeded to keep her company for 15-20 minutes until the emergency services came to take Mrs Langley to hospital.

She continued: “I don’t know who he was, but it was nice to see someone acting so nice.”

Doctors initially thought Mrs Langley had broken her nose, but she escaped with a broken tooth and heavy bruising which left her face purple.

She described her knight in shining armour as a smartly dressed man in his 30s and said: “He was so kind. He knelt down near me the whole time and I just want to say thank you.”

It is not the first time a kind-hearted person has helped a fallen OAP in the borough. Last year, an 87-year-old was helped after he fell shopping in Uxbridge.
