An elderly pedestrian involved in a collision with a cyclist on Chelsea Embankment has died nearly five months later from his injuries.

The incident happened shortly after 6pm on November 10, 2016 at the junction with Chelsea Bridge Road.

The 80-year-old male was taken to a south London hospital where he remained in a critical but stable condition for a number of months, before succumbing to his injuries on April 5.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident or events leading up to it to come forward to help with their enquiries.

Detectives from the Met’s Roads and Transport Policing Command are not naming the victim, but say he lived alone in Kennington and that they are still trying to trace next of kin, more than six months after the accident.

An inquest has opened and been adjourned.

The male cyclist stopped at the scene of the collision and is assisting police with enquiries.

There have been no arrests and the investigation continues.

Any witnesses or anyone with any information is asked to call the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 020 8543 5157 or contact via Twitter @MetCC
