A man remains in a stable condition in hospital following a suspected gas blast in Harlesden.

An image shows the destruction caused to a home in Tubbs Road , which saw an elderly man taken to hospital, where his condition remains stable, according to the Metropolitan Police .

London Fire Brigade (LFB) was called to the scene at 2.38pm on Wednesday, April 19, putting out a small fire in the kitchen and ventilating the property.

Fire crews from from Park Royal, Acton and Hammersmith stations attended and left the scene just more than an hour later.

LFB tweeted the image which shows a collapsed interior roof and a blown out wall.

Fire crews believe it was caused when a cooker, which had accidentally been left on all day, was lit.

A spokesman from the Metropolitan Police said: "Police were called by the London Fire Brigade at 14:52hrs on Wednesday, 19 April to reports of a gas explosion on Tubbs Road, NW10.

"Officers and the London Ambulance Service attended.

"The elderly resident was taken to hospital where he remains in a stable condition.

"The incident is not being treated as suspicious."
