Police are appealing for witnesses after an elderly man has been killed after being hit by a lorry in Wembley .

London Ambulance services (LAS) confirmed the man, believed to be in his 70s, was pronounced dead at the scene after the collision, which took place at around 2.15pm on Tuesday (January 10).

A spokesman for LAS told getwestlondon: "We were called to reports of a road traffic collision on Wembley Park Drive.

"We sent a number of resources to the scene including an ambulance crew and a single responder in a car to the scene.

"London's Air Ambulance was also dispatched."

The collision took place at the junction of Wembley Park Drive and Wembley Hill Road, near the stadium

A Metropolitan Police official said: "We were called to a pedestrian and lorry collision.

"The lorry driver stopped at the scene and no arrests have been made.

"Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit at Alperton are investigating the circumstances of the collision and would like anyone who witnessed any aspect of the collision to call them."

The incident saw road closures for over four hours at the Brent borough spot where the collision took place, with Transport for London (TfL) confirming it "remains closed as police investigations continue".

Buses and commuters were diverted away from the junction as emergency services investigated at the scene.

The next of kin have not been informed as yet.
