Uxbridge Road was brought to a standstill on Friday afternoon (August 21) after a collision.

A Met Police spokesman told getwestlondon that Police were called by the London Ambulance Service (LAS) to Hillingdon Road opposite Manor Waye in Uxbridge at 12.26pm on Friday August 21, following reports of a road traffic collision.

Police and LAS attended the scene and discovered a male pedestrian suffering from serious injuries following a collision with a car.

The pedestrian, who is believed to be aged in his 90s, was taken to a west London hospital where he died of his injuries.

His next of kin have been informed, however a formal identification is yet to take place.

A post mortem will take place in due course.

One eyewitness told getwestlondon: "There are police everywhere and someone is on the road. It looked serious with around 15-20 police."

Another passer-by got caught in the traffic along Uxbridge Road, and said: "The traffic is awful. Police are still there and there's debris on the road.

"The police had numbered places on the road and were knocking on doors of houses nearby.

"I saw a man taking photos within the police cordon."

Several bus routes were affected and were diverted due to the incident, with delays eastbound.

Hillingdon MPS confirmed that Uxbridge road has since reopened.

Police are currently appealing for any witnesses to contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 020 8991 9555 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
