Eight fire engines attended a blaze at a disused Acton shopping centre in the early hours of Tuesday (July 12) morning.

A total of 58 firefighters tackled the fire after they were called to the Oaks shopping centre, which is currently under demolition, at 12.48am and had the fire under control three hours later.

According to Twitter users, part of the new building on the site was alight and the London Fire Brigade confirmed that the basement of the property had been partially damaged by the fire.

Fire crews from Acton, Chiswick , Ealing , Hammersmith , North Kensington, Park Royal and Paddington fire stations were at the scene and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

Elsewhere, firefighters rescued a woman and children that were stuck in a lift when a fire broke out in a block of flats in Feltham on July 9.
