A total of 14 people were arrested during a heated protest between far-right and anti-fascists groups in central London on Saturday (April 2).

From around midday, a march organised by Britain First and the English Defence League was met with a counter protest from Unite Against Fascism (UAE).

The rally, which began in Trafalgar Square, soon became heated when ex-EDL leader Tommy Robinson arrived.

Chants of "EDL go to hell" were hurled from UAE protesters as hundreds spilled on to the surrounding roads.

Metropolitan Police said a total of 14 people were arrested as of 4pm, for various offences.

The event comes just over a week after a terrorist attack in Westminster saw Khalid Masood kill four people before he was shot dead.
