A fearless duo are taking on a challenge to run, cycle and kayak a 105-mile course to raise money for a hospice in Ealing.

Peter Flewitt and Daniel Grant have been busy training in the lead up to the Scottish Highlands Coast to Coast challenge on September 9.

Some of their feats include completing RideLondon and the London Marathon.

The pair hope to raise £3,000 to fund a new "oasis"-style garden and seating area for guests and their families at Meadow House Hospice, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year.

Mr Flewitt, 44, from Greenford, who runs for Ealing Southall and Middlesex AC, said: "This really caught my eye and having a go at the kayaking across the beautiful rugged highlands really got me excited!

"Dan and I used to run together at Ealing and as we’re evenly matched, knowing he’s getting married, I thought it rude not to set him one final challenge before he waves goodbye to his bachelor status!"

The A2Dominion Group development manager has also recently cycled the CBRE 100k bike ride, the Wales Velothon in Cardiff 140km, RideLondon 100 miles and won the BBC 10k.

As part of his ongoing training he runs daily saving the longer distances for the weekends.

The hospice is located on the grounds of Ealing Hospital in Southall and provides specialist palliative care to people living with life-threatening illnesses in Ealing and Hounslow, including a range of services such as inpatients, community service (home visits) and day care.

Its existing garden is in desperate need of a new lease of life, and after speaking to a hospice manager about the improvements needed and the time scale of the operation it was a "no brainer" to help the charity.

Daniel Grant

Mr Grant, 30, of Hanwell , added: “Peter talked me into it without me fully comprehending quite how challenging it would be, but I love a challenge and after racing four marathons (London three times and Yorkshire once) I liked the idea of something harder with more variety.

"Dreading the last 14 miles of uphill to finish after a full day on the bike and kayak!”

On top of wedding planning for his upcoming nuptials in mid-November, his training has included a 100-mile bike race in the Lake District and two hour/18-mile runs at weekends, with track and hill sessions during the week.
