Two Ealing residents – who were caught driving erratically in Southall – have been fined after obstructing and running away from police officers.

Paris Spence, 24, of Farnham Court, Southall, and Elizabeth Robinson, 27, of Gifford Gardens, Hanwell , were both convicted at Uxbridge Magistates' Court.

On August 29, in Longridge Lane, both Spence and Robinson “intentionally obstructed a constable” when the officer exercised his powers under section 23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971.

Both were in a vehicle which had been spotted by the Metropolitan Police driving erratically.

After stopping, the two subsequently ran away from police officers in the Golf Links estate.

Spence and Robinson were arrested and appeared at Uxbridge Magistrates' Court on October 9 and September 27 respectivley.

24-year-old Spence was ordered to pay costs of £300 and a victim surcharge of £85.

He also received a 12-week suspended sentence and must complete 120 hours of unpaid work.

Robinson was discharged conditionally for one month and was ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £120.

She was convicted of an additional offence of obstructing a PC rather than obstructing a drug search.
