Ealing Broadway Shopping Centre was evacuated on Saturday evening (June 10) after reports of a suspicious package.

Specialist Metropolitan Police officers attended and also closed down local roads as a precaution.

A man and two women were arrested during the incident and taken to a north London police station on public order offences.

Police later released all three, with no further action taken.

The shopping centre was shut by police at around 6.10pm, and locals reported seeing a police helicopter and sniffer dogs in the hunt for a suspicious package.

The incident was then stood down with all roads re-opening at around 9pm that evening. The shopping centre remained closed that night but re-opened as normal on Sunday (June 11).

The security alert had little affect on Londoners who were enjoying the warm weather in Ealing's bars, pubs and restaurants as specialist police with police dogs patrolled the streets and a police helicopter roared overhead.
