A drunk passenger caused severe delays on the Metropolitan and Piccadilly lines on Saturday (March 11) morning.

The incident at Rayners Lane station led to delays on both tube lines between Harrow on the Hill and Uxbridge station and Acton Town to Uxbridge.

The service was suspended at around 9am, while police were called to deal with the incident.

Severe delays were still being reported on part of the Piccadilly line at around 10.30am, with minor delays on the Metropolitan Line.

The disruption is expected to have been cleared by 11am.

A Transport for London spokeswoman said: "There was a drunk passenger and we had to call the police.

"The incident happened at around 9am. The service was temporarily suspended.

"Services were back up and running with severe delays (an hour later)."

There were also reports of severe delays on the Bakerloo line between Elephant Castle and Queen's Park due to signal failure at Edgware Road, at around 10.30am on Saturday (March 11).

People using the tubes are reminded there is no service on the Metropolitan between Baker Street and Aldgate due to planned engineering works on Saturday (March 11) and Sunday (March 12).
