Drumming pigs elicited squeals of excitement at a snout-of-this-world carnival in Hounslow .
The porcine players were among the star attractions as flamboyant costumes, live music and spectacular puppetry lit up the town centre over the weekend.
The Night of Festivals returned bigger and better on Saturday and Sunday (June 25-26), after making its bow in the borough last summer.
The theme of this year's festival was freedom and democracy - particularly fitting in the wake of the EU referendum two days earlier.
And the proceedings delivered a much-needed injection of fun and revelry to west London to lift the post-Brexit gloom and bewilderment in some quarters.
Cigar-toting pigs inspired by Animal Farm
Mandinga Arts' vibrant costumes were inspired by George Orwell's Animal Farm - hence the cigar-toting pigs - and the Day of the Dead Mexican holiday.
The pigs were part of a vibrant menagerie, including cats, lizards and cows, which animated the high street during processions on both days.
There was also live music throughout the weekend in Bell Square, with acts playing everything from bhangra to reggae providing a toe-tapping beat.
Vigil to late MP Jo Cox
The carnival briefly paused for a vigil to MP Jo Cox, who died after being shot and stabbed in her West Yorkshire constituency earlier this month.
A more sombre mood descended as crowds gathered to light candles and celebrate the late MP and the values of freedom, democracy and peace she tried to uphold.
Night of Festivals Hounslow was organised by ArtReach, with support from organisations including Inspire Hounslow, Cultural Community Solutions, Heathrow Community Fund, Feltham Arts and Hounslow Council .
Many of the local residents who took part in the processions will get to strut their stuff again at a special Night of Festivals London event on the South Bank this August.
