Border Force officers at Heathrow Airport seized cocaine found stashed in two beach bags worth £80k on the streets.

Officers stopped a passenger attempting to smuggle 2kg of the class A drug, after arriving on a flight from Nassau, Bahamas, at Terminal 5 on Monday (September 19).

Following the seizure, the investigation has been passed to the National Crime Agency.

Phil Douglas, Border Force Heathrow Director, said: “By thwarting this smuggling attempt we have prevented a significant amount of harmful substances making it onto the UK’s streets and causing damage to communities.

“Border Force officers are at the forefront of the fight to keep illegal drugs out of the country. We continue to work with our colleagues from the NCA to do all we can to stamp out this despicable trade.”

Rochelle Aleta Strachan , 38, has been charged with importing a Class A drug.

She appeared at Uxbridge Magistrates Court on Tuesday (September 20) and has been remanded in custody until her next appearance at Isleworth Crown Court on October 20.
