Metropolitan Police officers have scored a major success after they seized millions of pounds worth of drugs from a residential address in Hayes and a business in Heston, Hounslow.

A raid took place at around 2pm on Thursday (February 22) at a residential address in Coldharbour Lane, Hayes where they found £18,000 cash and class A drugs.

Officers carried out a second raid at a commercial address in Heston half an hour later, seizing 1million tablets, over 500,000 cigarettes and a smaller amount of an unknown tablet.

Superintendent Andy Jones of the Aviation Policing Command said: “This is an excellent piece of intelligence-led work in which officers have taken prescription-only class C drugs out of circulation.

“The Met targets all forms of criminality at London's airports, helping deliver safe and secure airports at every level.

“We continue to work closely with our partners in this regard.”

At the Hayes address, a 42-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of the importation of class C drugs, possession of class A and money laundering.

During the Hounslow raid, approximately 1,020,000 tablets believed to be Diazepam were seized, as well as 45 boxes containing approximately 576,000 cigarettes, and smaller quantities of other unidentified drugs in tablet form

The man was taken into custody at a west London police station and later bailed to return to the station on a date in late May.
