A pair of drug-dealing cousins are behind bars following a high-speed chase through Hounslow, police have said.

Ismael Jemba, of Mogden Lane, Isleworth, and Abby Nsubuga, of Burnham Gardens, Hounslow, were both convicted of possession with intent to sell cocaine.

They were each sentenced at Isleworth Crown Court on Tuesday (September 29) to four years imprisonment, police said.

Nsubuga, 34, received an additional one-month sentence to run concurrently for dangerous driving, and a 12-month disqualification from driving upon release from prison, the Met added.

Both men, who had denied the charges, were also ordered to forfeit over £4,500 cash under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

Jemba, 28, was searched on the evening of March 28, said police, after officers spotted him acting suspiciously while standing beside a black Hyundai in Hibernia Road, close to Hounslow town centre.

He was arrested after they found a wrap of cocaine, at which point he told officers the drugs belonged to the vehicle's occupant, his first cousin Nsubuga.

When officers approached the car, Nsubuga sped off towards Staines Road, ploughing on through a set of red lights and driving the wrong way down a one-way street as police pursued him.

After driving into a dead end in nearby Bulstrode Road he got out of the car and ran down an alleyway and across a number of back gardens before being caught.

He was found to have cocaine, snap bags and £265 in cash on him. Two mobile phones and £390 hidden in a plant pot were also found in the area, and two further wraps of cocaine in the car.

An address in Isleworth, linked to both men, was also searched and there police found further drugs and large amounts of cash.

Detective Constable Dan Whitehead said: "Nsubuga's efforts to evade capture were thankfully halted in a matter of minutes. His dangerous driving put himself and other road users at risk and his action may have caused serious injury had it not been for the speedy and systematic police response.

"The sentences send a clear and direct message to those who are intent on blighting their communities with drugs - they simply will not be tolerated.

"Our policing team is committed to using every resource and tactic to keep Hounslow safe and drug free, and ensure that criminals like Jemba and Nsubuga are brought before the courts."
