A drug dealer who went on the run for nine years has been jailed after he was found in Sweden.

Abdi Ghele was convicted in 2007 for possession with intent to supply a class B drug, having been caught with cannabis when visiting Feltham Young Offenders Institution.

But the 29-year-old, of Llanover Road, Woolwich, failed to show up at court for sentencing that year and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

He was eventually tracked down in Sweden, police said, and he was extradited to the UK on August 30 this year.

He appeared at Isleworth Crown Court the following day, where he was sentenced to 10 weeks in prison for the original drugs charge and 5 weeks for failure to appear in court, which he admitted.

The sentences for the two offences will run concurrently.

Police in Hounslow tweeted a photo of the offender following sentencing, accompanied by the hashtag #wewillgetyouintheend.
