A driving instructor has been embracing his alter ego as the David Brent of the road in a series of comedy videos.

Farhan Miah, of Hounslow, began making short films about how not to teach - featuring his own students - around two years ago as "a bit of fun".

He plays an obnoxious and incompetent instructor, whom he compares to Ricky Gervais' character from The Office behind the wheel.

The videos, which he posts on Instagram and Youtube, show him hitting on students, slapping them and even brushing his teeth while on the move when running late for a lesson.

The owner of FM Driving School, which he set up around five years ago, says they were partly inspired by his first instructor and by students' tales of teachers from hell.

"The first instructor I had was really bad. He always turned up 10 minutes late, finished 10 minutes early and would stop to fill up the tank almost every lesson," he said.

"I also get other instructors telling me to teach learners poorly so I get extra lessons out of them but I'd never do that, especially since I know how expensive it is to learn when you're 17."

Mr Miah, who studied at Lampton School, Hounslow, before graduating from King's College London with a first-class honours degree in maths, says he loves teaching motorists and insists he is nothing like the instructor he plays in the humorous clips.

He describes the key virtues of a good instructor - none of which you will find in his comedy videos - as honesty, experience and patience.

He also posts serious videos in which he talks learners through various techniques and tells them what to expect in the test, along with testimonials from students.
