Rugby Union star Danny Cipriani will stand trial accused of drink driving in Fulham on April 18.

The England international had denied the charge when appearing at Hammersmith Magistrates’ Court on December 10, but a date for the subsequent trial was not set.

The Sale fly-half was breath tested by police following an incident in Imperial Road in the early hours of June 1, hours after he starred in a long-awaited comeback for England against the Barbarians at Twickenham . He had been driving a Mercedes.

The 28-year-old, who gave his address as Raynes Park when appearing at the Talgarth Road court last year, narrowly missed out on selection for last year’s England World Cup squad.

The one-day trial will take place at Westminster Magistrates’ Court .
