Flames leapt through the windows of a maisonette during a fire in Acton on Sunday (December 20) morning.

Crews from Acton, Chiswick , Ealing and Hammersmith were at the scene in Bollo Bridge Road to deal with the blaze, arriving just after 9.30am.

Three people were able to escape the property uninjured before firefighters arrived.

A statement by the London Fire Brigade said: “When fire crews arrived they were faced with an intense fire coming out of a maisonette on the fifth and sixth floors.

“The whole of the maisonette was badly damaged by the blaze.”

Six engines with 35 firefighters were at the scene. They were called at 9.34am and had the blaze under control by 12.05pm.

The cause of the fire is now under control.

Earlier this year, a man died after a fire broke out in a bloke of flats in the same road .
